Job Summary
The main role is the delivery of swimming coaching services and accompanying administrative services for Crewe Flyers Swimming Club.

Job Description
The role of the Head Coach is to inspire and motivate swimmers at all levels and ensure that coaching at the club promotes fitness, enjoyment and enables individuals to perform to the best of their ability.

To have overall management and responsibility for all the club’s coaching delivery, ensuring that coaching is carried out in line with nationally expected practices, within the guidelines authorised by the committee and maintaining high ethical standards.

To be responsible for forward planning all coaching sessions and holding regular meetings with the coaching team.

To set an annual training and competition plan for all squads and to monitor swimmers’ progress and coordinate swimmer movements between squads in conjunction with the other squad coaches and ensure that this is communicated in a timely manner.

Prepare and update staffing rotas to ensure that sufficient coaches/volunteers are always on poolside and ensure that coaching sessions are covered wherever possible to minimise disruption to swimmers/cancellation of sessions.

To carry out administrative duties as necessary and agreed by the committee to ensure effective management of coaching at the club.

To be responsible for the welfare of swimmers and coaches during coaching sessions

To maintain high ethical standards in coaching.

To maintain poolside discipline in accordance with the club’s policies and procedures and Swim England regulations.

To lead coach development in the club and ensure that knowledge, skills and qualifications are kept up to date.

To set an annual training and competition programme.

To be responsible for team selections.

To attend competitions with teams to coordinate support and motivate the teams.

To organise and attend an annual residential swim camp.

To monitor evaluate and feedback on individual and team performance and maintain a comprehensive register, contact sheet and PB list.

When requested, to report back to the club committee at committee meetings.

To represent the club at external events or meetings as necessary and agreed by the committee.

With the committee, to set direction and performance targets for the club.

To provide any equipment necessary to perform the role at their own cost.

A good knowledge and understanding of the discipline of swimming and the development of swimmers at competition level.

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

Ability to lead and develop a coaching team.

Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents and the committee.

Ability to liaise and work with the committee and volunteers involved in supporting the club.

Ability to forge relationships and promote collaborative working with local clubs and facility providers.

Have a good working knowledge of child protection procedures.

Attended a relevant first aid course.

Willingness to undertake training related to CPD (including a Level 3 coaching qualification)
